Welcome to the Upper Augusta Volunteer Fire Company web site. We are located on the top of Mile Hill in central PA serving a territory of 37 square miles. The company was a community effort after some of the residents thought it wise to have a fire company nearby, when there were a few grass fires in the township. At the time, the community of Mount Pleasant was a large part of the area in Upper Augusta TWP. Most of the members lived in the neighborhood and were able to respond to calls quickly. However, there was no place to house the apparatus, as there was no station built yet. The members kept the fire trucks at their homes and either picked each other up or drove themselves to the scene. It wasn't until the year 1973 when a two bay fire station was built "on the hill." This station housed a 1950 Seagrave Engine #21, a 1950 Chevy Tanker #22, and a 1950 Chevy "brush buggy." Over the 30+ years in existance the fire station took on many apparatus changes and the building itself grew one more bay wide to accompany more fire trucks. The community also changed with houses being built where corn used to stand. This change forced the fire company to upgrade it's equipment and better train it's members. Today the fire company is ready to answer any call day or night with it's 20+ active members.
